The Carpenter Foreman is responsible for oversight, training, and coordinating the day-to-day activities at assigned job sites, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and to high-quality standards. This is a working foreman position.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints to plan and execute projects
- Coordinate and oversee a team of carpenters
- Adhere to project timelines
- Implement quality control measures to ensure work meets specifications
- Monitor compliance with safety regulations including OSHA standards
- Construct, erect, install and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, metal and wallboard using hand tools and power tools.
- Work with and install doors, hardware, trim, cabinetry, ceiling materials and millwork.
- Specific tasks may include building rough wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports and temporary frame shelters according to sketches, blueprints or verbal instructions.
- Erect scaffolding for buildings and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms and gangways, install rough frames and bracing them with boards nailed to framework, install subflooring in building, or weld parts to steel structural members.
- Drive equipment as needed
- Partition framing and sheet rock installation
- Rough carpentry work including in-wall blocking
- Finish carpentry including installation of doors, frames, hardware and trim
- Temporary protection including barricades, visqueen, floor protection, etc.
- Ability to lift, squat, and pull up to 100 lbs. with frequency throughout the day
- Selective demolition of non-load bearing walls, ceilings and flooring material and clean-up of all demolition debris
- Receive and handle any miscellaneous material deliveries
- Installation and maintenance of safety handrails, covered openings, etc.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in carpentry and construction projects
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and project scheduling
- Knowledge of quality control processes and procedures
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in commercial construction
- Strong leadership skills to effectively manage a team
- OSHA certification is a plus
- Flexible availability, including some overtime, weekends, and night shifts.
