Here's What Your Day-to-Day Looks Like:
A CDL Class A driver’s day-to-day typically begins early with a pre-trip inspection to ensure the vehicle is safe and compliant with DOT regulations. Once on the road, they transport goods over short or long distances, adhering to strict delivery schedules and safety protocols. Throughout the day, they may interact with dispatchers, customers, and loading dock personnel, while maintaining accurate logs of their hours and deliveries. Depending on the employer, they might load or unload freight, refuel, or troubleshoot minor mechanical issues. A Class A CDL allows drivers to operate a variety of heavy-duty vehicles including tractor-trailers (also known as semi-trucks), flatbeds, tankers, refrigerated trailers, and livestock carriers.
