Material Handler (Manufacturing) | Batavia, OH
1st Shift | $19.50/hour

Express Employment Professionals Cincinnati East is now hiring to fulfill a Manufacturing Material Handler for a full-time role in Batavia, OH. This role will adhere to company programs, procedures, and policies while assisting in the manufacturing of seasonings and will participate in the following activities pertaining to the responsibilities of the position.

Core Functions

  • Responsible for working independently and completing day-to-day operations such as: weigh-out, blending, packaging, basic maintenance, shipping & receiving, cleaning, and sanitation upon documented training and supervisor approval as assigned.
  • Reviewing customer orders and locating the items in the warehouse. This often involves using barcodes or serial numbers to find the correct products.
  • Ensuring the items are in good condition and free from damage before preparing them for delivery.
  • Securely packaging items, often using shrink-wrap, and placing them in boxes or envelopes for shipment.
  • Using forklifts and other machinery to move heavy items and load delivery vehicles.
  • Keeping track of inventory levels by updating stock counts after items are retrieved.
  • Transfer materials between work areas using a sit-down forklift truck.
  • Start and stop machines and equipment appropriately in a safe manner.
  • Follow GMP’s to maintain good housekeeping to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Proper handling of allergen products and equipment according to the allergen control procedures.
  • Responsible for verifying accurate measurements and documentation in weigh-out, verification, and blending operation of raw materials for product formulation.
  • Responsible for producing the correct finished product quality with the correct use of labeling.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment using chemical dilution methods following the chemical control program.
  • Authorized to sign off on tasks pertaining to manufacturing upon completion of training.
  • Contribute to and model the company values, vision, and mission.

Competencies & Required Experience

  • Food Regulatory Knowledge or experience preferred
  • Supervisory and Inventory Experience required
  • Industry Relevant Production Experience
  • Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Observation skills
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Highly motivated and detail-oriented

Work Environment

This job operates in both an office environment and a food manufacturing environment.
This role routinely uses standard food manufacturing equipment as well as office equipment. Exposure to flavor, odor, dust and basic product chemicals and raw materials including basic allergens. Regularly works in close proximity to loud machinery.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Being able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds when needed is essential. The role involves a mix of duties within both production and office settings.

Shift: 1st Shift, Mon-Thurs 6:00am-4:45pm
Pay: $19.50/hour
