We are partnering with a well-established Japanese restaurant concept in Honolulu to find their next Assistant Kitchen Manager. If you are the kind of leader who takes ownership of the kitchen, holds high standards, and genuinely enjoys developing the people around you, this one is worth a closer look.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead and manage daily kitchen operations across AM and PM shifts, keeping quality, cleanliness, and guest experience at the forefront
- Work alongside the Kitchen Manager to set prep levels, maintain recipe standards, and keep the line running smoothly during peak periods
- Keep a close eye on food and labor costs, identify inefficiencies, and take action to hit financial targets
- Build and coach a strong back-of-house team through hands-on mentorship and consistent accountability
- Ensure all food safety, sanitation, and compliance standards are met on every shift
- Handle opening and closing responsibilities, POS management, and cash handling
- Serve as the bridge between front of house and back of house to keep service flowing without disruption
- Put systems in place to reduce waste, protect inventory, and support overall kitchen profitability
What We're Looking For:
- At least 3 years of management experience in a restaurant setting - Japanese restaurant preferred
- A proven track record of leading and developing kitchen teams
- Comfortable working in a multicultural environment
- Bilingual in English and Japanese is a strong plus
- Solid understanding of food safety regulations, OSHA standards, and sanitation practices
- Financially savvy with experience managing food and labor costs to budget
- Strong communicator who leads by example and keeps the team accountable
- Familiar with restaurant POS and management software
- Reliable transportation and full schedule flexibility, including weekends and holidays
- Physically able to handle the demands of a high-volume kitchen environment
