Torch Burner / Steel Cutter

Pay: $20.00 per hour

We are seeking an experienced Torch Burner / Steel Cutter to join a construction company in the Birmingham area. This position is responsible for cutting and preparing structural steel and other metal materials using industrial cutting equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate oxy-fuel cutting torches to cut steel and other metal materials
  • Cut structural steel, beams, pipes, plates, and other materials as needed
  • Measure and mark materials before cutting
  • Operate grinders and other hand and power tools
  • Assist with steel removal and construction-related projects
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Inspect and properly maintain cutting equipment
  • Follow all company and job-site safety procedures
  • Perform other general labor duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Previous experience using a cutting torch required
  • Experience cutting structural steel or heavy metal preferred
  • Construction, demolition, fabrication, or industrial experience preferred
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately
  • Familiarity with oxy-acetylene torch equipment
  • Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physically demanding work
  • Strong attention to safety

Schedule: Full-time

Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
