Job Summary
A family-owned company in the Irondale area is looking for a Purchasing Agent! This company has been in business for over 100 years. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our procurement team in the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) industry. This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in purchasing, supply chain management, and vendor relations within a fast-paced environment. The agent will support the purchasing team in ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, equipment, and services necessary for our HVAC operations.
Here's What Your Day-to-Day Looks Like
- Assist in Procurement Processes: Support the purchasing team in sourcing, evaluating, and selecting HVAC materials and equipment.
- Order Management: Help create and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of products and services.
- Vendor Communication: Assist in maintaining effective communication with suppliers regarding order status, delivery schedules, and any discrepancies.
- Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with the team to maintain optimal stock levels of HVAC components.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and vendor agreements in the company’s procurement system.
- Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and relevant regulations.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as sales and finance, to align purchasing strategies with the overall company budget and current market demands.
Schedule & Pay
- FULL TIME; Mon-Fri, 8:00am-5:00pm
- $19-24/hr

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, or a related field a plus but not required.
- Knowledge: Basic understanding of procurement principles, supply chain management, and the HVAC industry is preferred but not required.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Intermediate Excel skills a must.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Experience: Previous internship or coursework related to purchasing, supply chain, or HVAC is a plus but not required.
