A Shop technician with diesel truck and tractor trailer experience typically works in a repair or maintenance facility (like a trucking company, dealership, or fleet maintenance shop) and is responsible for keeping heavy-duty vehicles in top shape. Here’s a breakdown of what they usually do: Main Responsibilities:
Diagnose issues in diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and electrical systems. Perform routine maintenance like oil changes, filter replacements, brake checks, tire rotations, etc. Repair or replace parts like turbos, injectors, clutches, transmissions, axles, or exhaust systems. Use diagnostic tools (like computer scan tools) to troubleshoot engine codes or system errors. Inspect trailers for DOT compliance and safety (lights, brakes, air systems, etc.). Document work done in maintenance records or shop management software. Collaborate with drivers to understand vehicle issues based on their reports. Here's What Makes YOU a Great Fit:
