Commercial HVAC Installer / Technician – Schools, Commercial & Industrial Buildings
Shift:
Full-Time | Day Shift
Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required depending on project needs.
Salary:
$22.00 – $30.00 per hour
Pay is based on experience and certifications. Benefits may be available depending on employment status and company policy.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including heating units, air conditioning systems, and refrigeration equipment in schools, commercial properties, and industrial facilities.
- Interpret and follow blueprints, building plans, and technical diagrams to guide installation and repair procedures.
- Measure openings such as windows or wall sections; cut through structures using hand and power tools to accommodate HVAC units.
- Troubleshoot system issues and equipment breakdowns; use diagnostic tools to test and evaluate components.
- Disassemble faulty systems and make repairs or replacements, reassembling parts to ensure full system functionality.
- Cut and thread pipes; install ductwork and ventilation systems in compliance with code requirements.
- Drill holes in walls or floors and install fittings for pipe or duct connections.
- Wire and connect motors to control panels; balance motors for proper and efficient operation.
- Connect HVAC control panels to electrical power sources following all safety regulations.
- Weld support brackets or fixtures to structural steel when required for mounting equipment.
- May install and maintain solar-powered heating and cooling systems.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial or industrial HVAC installation and repair (more experience preferred)
- Familiarity with HVAC system components, refrigeration, solar HVAC units, and electrical controls
- Skilled in using HVAC tools including pipe-threading machines, cutters, torches, and diagnostic instruments
- Ability to read and follow blueprints and mechanical drawings
- Physically capable of lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, and climbing ladders
- EPA certification preferred
- HVAC vocational training or certification is a plus
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (if job includes travel to job sites)
