Encova Insurance, formerly Motorists Insurance and BrickStreet Insurance, has an immediate opening for a Computer Operator for our New Albany location. This will be a part-time, weekend role working 5:30 pm to 5:30 am Saturday and Sunday, 24 hours per week.

JOB OBJECTIVE:

To efficiently support, operate and control the mainframe and LAN computer systems. To assist with the timely completion of both the nightly batch processing and the availability of the online computer systems. To control physical access to the facility and to monitor the physical state of all aspects of the Data Center. To isolate the source of problems and take appropriate actions to resolve those problems. Responsible for completing all scheduled batch cycles and processes for the daily/nightly work during the shift and to support the work-flow of computer operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Keep abreast of all equipment and/or program changes affecting the systems.

2. Verify the proper execution of production processes are correct and complete.

3. Help maintain the security, condition and appearance to the entire Data Center facility.

4. Notify the Lead Computer Operator of any hardware, software or program malfunctions; also create problem tickets to document the problem and actions taken. Follow set procedures and escalate problems as defined by management.

5. On occasion and when instructed, perform the daily changes as defined by technical standards.

6. Expected to resolve some problems independently and others with assistance of the Lead Computer Operator.

7. Maintain daily tape rotation and administer and maintain tape management system's tapes and records.

8. Assist with monitoring the LAN systems, file transfers, and nightly batch operations.

9. Responsible for the completion of all night time batch processes for Encova by their designated SLA.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

1. Continually develop new skills to meet the evolving demands of future technologies

2. To report progress of assignments on a weekly basis

3. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Must have good knowledge of Encova Insurance operating systems, computer principles and virtual machine/storage concepts.
• Thorough knowledge of the following is required: z/OS, JES2, JCL and peripheral equipment; operation and IPL of a z-Series computer or comparable processor; job and process scheduling systems, and understand the concepts with a problem tracking system and monitoring and alerting systems.
• Basic knowledge of the following is required: monitoring of batch jobs; operation of LANS and WAN, system backups; facility security concepts; and tape management systems.
• At least two years experience as a computer operator with z/OS and JES2 on a z-Series mainframe.
• At least two years of experience with servers and network hardware.
• Experience with BMC Control-M and Service Now a plus.
