Encova Insurance, formerly Motorists Insurance and BrickStreet Insurance has an immediate opening for a Analytics Consultant.

While we prefer the ideal candidate will work in this hybrid role in our Columbus, OH office, we will consider candidates who may also work hybrid in the Charleston, WV office. The role will report to the Manager, Product Analytics.

JOB OBJECTIVE:

Act as internal consultant for business partners throughout the enterprise to enable better business decisions by collecting and integrating appropriate data, building statistical models, and designing solutions for predicting and monitoring the impact of business decisions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Meet with business partners to understand analytics needs and propose solutions.

2. Develop working knowledge of available internal and external data sources, and identify, collect, and integrate data needed to address business problems.

3. Create reports or data views to support business partners.

4. Build predictive models (linear and non-linear regression, decision trees, etc.) of consumer behavior (loss costs, marketing response, conversion, fraud, etc.).

5. Create new solutions or enhance existing tools to simulate and monitor the impact of business decisions.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

1. Work closely with Business Intelligence unit to maximize value of existing solutions and provide guidance on incorporating new elements.

2. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Some knowledge in insurance or banking industry in a technical role preferred. (actuarial, analytics, marketing research, etc.)
• B.A. or B.S. degree is required. Majors in mathematics, statistics, economics, or computer science strongly preferred. Other majors may be acceptable depending on mathematics background. Advanced degree preferred.
• Candidate should be experienced in working with large data sets using SQL and/or SAS and in conducting regression analyses using SAS, R, or other statistical software.
• Knowledge of insurance terminology and ratemaking is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
